Maximum Fighting Championship (tickets)Alessio to meet Daley in MFC 19 SuperFight. As promised, the Maximum Fighting Championship is delivering on its word that John “The Natural” Alessio’s debut in the MFC would be in a fight of international interest. Now officially added to the MFC 19: Long Time Coming lineup is a welterweight superfight pitting Alessio (24-11) against English knockout artist Paul “Semtex” Daley (18-7). The bout will lead into the main event featuring the first defence of the MFC world light heavyweight title by champion Roger Hollett as he takes on top-ranked challenger Emanuel Newton.
Daley has won six of his last seven fights and 13 of his 18 victories have come by way of knockout. The 24-year-old Nottingham native has stopped his opposition in five of his last six wins and three of those have come inside the first round. Daley prepares for his fights in Holland with former K-1 standouts Melvin Manhoef and Ernesto Hoost. Like Daley, fellow veteran Alessio is also on a tear having captured victories in five of his last six fights including a 45-second knockout of Gideon Ray and a second-round submission of Pete Spratt. For Alessio, this bout will be in the first in Canada since 2005 and he has won six of eight fights on his home soil. The 29-year-old was born in Vancouver but now trains in Las Vegas at Randy Couture’s Xtreme Couture.
Both fighters already have some interesting connections to the welterweight scene in the MFC. Alessio had some interesting words about current MFC welterweight contender Ryan Ford – so much so that the two were nearly locked into a bout and may yet still collide. As for Daley, back in July 2005 he met up with current MFC welterweight champion Pat “Bam Bam” Healy in Healy’s hometown of Portland, Oregon. Healy posted a victory when he secured a guillotine choke at 3:15 of Round 2. Full Card
